Grandmaster

Grandmaster is the hardest difficulty in Celeste. There is a reason I only included one of them. This is where we really abuse in this no speed cap limit. By chaining Ultra Dashes until we can no longer do them. We explore are going to explore pretty nich mechanic to understand why they work like that.

The Chained Ultra Dash:

Imagine the ultra dash, but more of them. Like I mention in the ultra dash section you can theoretical get close to infinite speed in this game. But this isn't what makes this technique difficut. Because you will only do it five times maximum. It has to do with friction. Ultra dashes aren't coded in Celeste, you basically abuse a certain game mechanic to make the climbing girl go faster. But the mechanic that allowd it to be possible is friction. To explain briefly, it's what allows you to slow down whenever you hit the ground. By forcing on it to much you can easily loose a bunch of speed. But you can't be in the air forever because you have to regain your dash somehow. And you can't buffer your jump or else you will stop to a hault. So you need to slide on the platform for a very but I mean very small amount of time then jump then do this again until you can no longer do it. Each time you successfully performed a chained ultra dash the timing for the next one will progressively become tighter and tighter as you go, because the game want you to slow down. And if you ever managed to input it correctly you will have at your hand the most powerful Celeste tech for long distances.
